These findings provide evidence that AMP exposure during adolescence detrimentally impacts the development of an adult-like sensitization response to AMP-induced stereotyped behavior as these rats mature into adulthood. As our work only included male subjects, it is currently unknown whether the sex-specific effects of AMP-induced locomotor sensitization seen in adolescents also exhibits a long-lasting change into adulthood.
